Matt Hunter, tidliger Secret Service agent, lever et forholdsvis stille liv på en farm i Louisiana. Da hans bedste ven Larry Richards stiller op til senatet, bliver han pga. sin hudfarve truet på livet af en højreorienteret terrororganisation, Pentangle. Matts fortid som kampsportsekspert i CIA gør ham oplagt som Larrys bodyguard, og da Pentangle i valgkampens hede kidnapper Hunters søster, opdager de, at de er kommet på tværs af den forkerte mand!
