Ernest Borgnine (eigentlich Ermes Effron Borgnino; * 24. Januar 1917 in Hamden, Connecticut; † 8. Juli 2012 in Los Angeles, Kalifornien) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Für Marty gewann er 1956 den Oscar als bester Hauptdarsteller.
Borgnine zählte seit den 1950er Jahren zu den bekanntesten Charakterdarstellern in Hollywood und war oft in profilierten Nebenrollen zu sehen. Er trat in mehr als 200 Fernseh- und Kinofilmen auf und war bis zu seinem Tod als Schauspieler aktiv. Quelle: Wikipedia
